Airlines - UK Tourists of Maldives



Tourist arrival in the Maldives is chief from the UK, attract about 100,000 British visitors each and every year.  Hence, it was only rational for British Airways, the UK’s flagship airline, to open a straight way to the stifling island paradise.The Maldives Tourism endorsement Board said they would be organising a special welcome for the maiden flight in order to give British Airways the humid receive it so deserve.

British Airways operate up to ten every day flights to New York and will start the first ever London City – New York service later this year.
These routes will be operated by Boeing 777 aircraft with a three-class configuration: World Traveller, World Traveler Plus and Club World. 
A wide range of good value hotels from independent properties to luxury five-star resorts in both the Maldives and Sharm el Sheikh will be available to book on giving further choice and flexibility to all holidaymakers.
Judy Jarvis, British Airways regional commercial manager, South Asia, said: “It gives me large enjoyment to make known the start of non-stop flights from Male to the UK. The Maldives offers sunny beaches and unspoilt lagoons, a perfect combination for the ideal humid holiday purpose. I am convinced that it will be very popular with our customers.”


British Airways is to launch new thrice-weekly direct services from Gatwick airport to male in the Maldives from October 25, 2009. It will also begin operations to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt. This will be the first time British Airways has fly to the Maldives, but will be a revisit for the airline’s colors to the Red Sea resort.
